You would soak the tips of your fingers in a bowl (glass) of the stuff. It will begin to soften and you can use a wooden cuticle stick to help it off. This is a long procedure that exposes your skin to acetone for a long time. If you can find a very thin bit of plastic, or a plastic nail tip just clip your nails a bit, and run the edge of the plastic up under between your nail and the acrylics. It will take a bit of doing, but is faster and better for you. and do not leave for long time,, i find that a few minutes, then check it remove any loose residue, then soak again, and remove any more residue...
the longer you leave the brush to soak the more damage it will do...
also, cleaning it a bit more after every use so it doesn't get clumpy again.. brushes cost too much to waste them...

Is stopping nail-biting just a matter of pure mental will?
I think with any bad habit its partly you fully concentrating on stopping yourself and partly finding some sort of 'cue' to remind yourself of doing that bad habit without thinking.
My daughter used to bite her nails all the time. What cured her was getting a set of those gel nails they aren't anything you even want to chew :) if that doesn't work you can try hypnotherapy where they just make the suggestion that you no longer bite your nails and it works but it really depends on the person.

First soak them in hot water. It will make them loose. Then use pure acetone and rub them down with a cutton swab or something. It might melt them a little. I dont really know what it does i just heard you werent supposed to use acetone nail polish remover on those nails because it will loosen them, and sicne thats your quest, try that.
